"I have such a great memories I will never forget the people who are my host family, my teachers, friends and Football mates at Underdale High School. My experience has helped developed not only my language skills but me as a person.

I think the best way to improve my language was to communicate with everyone. I will have these fantastic memories in the future. If you choose to be an International student at Underdale High school, I'm sure that everyone around you will help you anytime you need support and you will also make wonderful memories that you will never forget. I would like to give you some advice to make the effort to interact with everyone, practice your English and have a good time."

About my life at Underdale

I arrived at the school at the beginning of term three and never found myself in a situation without anyone to talk to or have fun with in breaks like recess or lunch. I can actually say this is true. Here, at Underdale, nearly every student from the school who saw me, came up to me and asked me to hang out with them or just said hello and introduced themselves. I didn't expect that and I was really surprised.

From day one I made good and loyal friends, which I had a lot of fun with. The school level is high for Australia I have to say and the teachers are way better then in Germany! School is normally for me, something where I don't like to go but I have to go. Here it was completely the opposite, I was always happy to go to school and meet all of the very polite and nice Underdale High school students. The school uniform was of course in the beginning weird, BUT I got used to it really quickly as I saw other schools with way worse ones.

My goal in coming here to Adelaide and then especially Underdale was to have new experiences, learn English, play soccer, enjoy the time and make new friends. I think I have done this already in such a good way and I just want to thank you for such a great support!

Best regards Lenni

Hi. My name is Celine, I am 16 years old and I am from Germany. I live in a small town called Rheda-Wiedenbrück.
I am at Underdale for six weeks. That is the time of my summer holidays. And it may sound crazy, but I really like going to school.
The teachers are very friendly and they help you every time you have some questions. Generally, the teachers are much more relaxed than in Germany. They do not take everything too serious and they like doing their job.
The students are very well, too. They come to you and speak with you. They are all friendly and help you all the time. They made it very easy to settle in so that I felt well after just one week.
School in Australia is really different to school in Germany. School starts later and is finished earlier in Australia. And the breaks are longer.
Furthermore, the subjects are much better. In Germany, I have ten (!) subjects in year 11, among them two foreign languages, physics, mathematics, geography, history and much more. Everything is more difficult and we have much homework to do after school.
The only thing I have to regret is that I cannot play soccer anymore. Actually, that is the reason why I am at Underdale but I injured my knee during the first lesson. But there are so many other things that I like so that is okay.
I really enjoy my time at Underdale and I am sad that I am just here for six weeks. However it is a great time I will never forget.
