Pupil Free Day 6th May 2026

9 April, 2026

On Wednesday 6 May, Underdale High School will hold a Student-Free Day as our staff engage in professional learning to further strengthen teaching and learning across the school.

Our focus for the day is on deepening our understanding and use of dialogic teaching—an approach that builds students’ thinking, confidence, and ability to communicate their ideas effectively. Through this work, teachers will continue to refine their pedagogical practices to ensure every student is actively engaged in meaningful learning.

At the same time, our school gym will host a Careers Expo featuring more than 25 exhibitors. These will include representatives from a range of industries, wellbeing pathways, higher education providers, and apprenticeship and traineeship organisations. This is an exciting opportunity for invited students to explore future pathways and engage directly with experts across different fields.

While this is a student-free day for most, a small number of students will be invited to attend as student representatives. These students will work alongside staff, sharing their perspectives and insights to help us better understand the learner experience and further improve our teaching approaches.

We appreciate your support as we invest in high-quality teaching practices that contribute to the best possible outcomes for all students.
